‘Blades of Glory’ lacks laughs

“Blades of Glory,” starring Will Ferrell and Jon Heder,
was No. 1 in the box office this week.
I did not have high hopes going into this movie and I was
still let down. There were many times that they used computer animation and it
was very easy to tell when they did.
It was also a very weak story line with many breaks
throughout the movie. The movie just did not move smoothly. There were also not
many laughs. There was one time, when Ferrell and Heder first skated together
that was funny. However, the rest of the movie was filled with little chuckles
and that’s about it.
Also, Ferrell and Heder were both trying too hard. Ever since
“Anchorman,” with Ferrell and “Napoleon Dynamite” with Heder, both of their
careers have gone downhill.
They are trying too hard to get laughs, and it just isn’t
working — not that it ever worked very well for them in the first place.
Everywhere you looked throughout the movie you could see not-so-subtle
advertising. Every other minute they were going somewhere or eating something
with the brand name clearly visible.
Overall, I was incredibly disappointed with this movie,
although, as I said, I wasn’t completely looking forward to it in the first
place. I would give this movie half of a star, would not recommend it and would
prefer to gouge my eyes out than watch this movie ever again!
