Dave Matthews Band may be starting their annual U.S.
summer tour later than usual this summer, but it will not disappoint fans
nationwide. The tour is beginning in August and will run through October.
The summer tour is shorter this year with them only having 35
shows, down from 46 from last summer’s tour. The reason for the dates being few
this summer is that Dave Matthews and his wife are expecting their third child
in July.
There are many Midwest shows this summer, however, one being
located in Bridgeview at Toyota Park. This is a brand new stadium that is home
to the Chicago Fire.
Also, shows will be held at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin and at
Noblesville, Ind. Opening acts included for this summer’s tour consists of
Umphrey’s McGee, The Roots, Pete Yorn, Toots and the Maytals and Xavier Rudd.
A few new venues have been included in the tour, such as
University of Florida in Gainesville on Sept. 11, and Hollywood Bowl to end his
tour on Oct. 1 and 2.
This summer you could be hearing a few new songs that the
band has been working on during the winter and also possibly they could be
playing some cover songs that they did on the winter tour such as “Still Water,”
“The Maker,” “Time of the Season,” “Sweet Caroline” and “Down by the River.”
If interested, tickets are available through Ticketmaster
starting April 21.
