Riley celebrates 1982 state championship reunion

In 1982, then assistant coach Mike Riley helped lead the
Illinois Central College men’s basketball team to the state championship. Twenty
five later, on Feb. 10, the team reunited to celebrate former coach Carroll
Herman’s entrance into the National Junior College Athletics Association’s 2007
Hall of Fame class.
Riley was chosen to present the coach with his awards at a
special ceremony at the halftime of the ICC – Shawnee game and members of the
1982 team flew in from all over the state and country to celebrate the
anniversary. Riley said, “It was great to get to see all those guys again. We
had a great year and it was the last real Illinois championship game.”
He went on to say, “It was an honor to present to my friend
Coach Herman at the ceremony. ”
