Financial aid workshop set for Feb. 28

IV Leader Staff, Feb 15, 2007
Illinois Valley Community College’s office of Financial
Aid will offer a free College Admissions and Financial Aid Workshop for college
bound students on Wednesday, Feb. 28 from 6:30-8 p.m. on the college’s main
campus.
As part of the College Awareness Preparation project,
Illinois’ financial community is sponsoring this workshop with the college. The
Illinois Student Assistance Commission, the Illinois Association of Student
Financial Aid Administrators and the Illinois Association for College Admissions
Counseling are working together to provide the CAP project as a means of
improving awareness of college financial aid opportunities along with the
college selection and admissions process.
Students considering enrolling in college this fall are
encouraged to begin the financial aid application process at this time.
All students, from high school juniors to adults returning to
college, as well as parents seeking assistance completing the Free Application
for Federal Student Aid will be able to receive assistance from financial aid
professionals during the workshop.
The FAFSA is available free of charge on the Internet at
www.fafsa.ed.gov and in paper form at local high schools, libraries and IVCC.
Completing the FAFSA accurately and on time is the first and
most important step to obtaining state and federal student aid, according to
IVCC Financial Aid director Steve Crick. Families seeking individual assistance
should bring all completed or estimated 2007 & 2006 income tax forms, along with
any other asset information for students and parents in order to complete the
current FAFSA form.
To expedite the process families should complete as much of
the FAFSA as possible prior to attending the workshop. For further information
contact Crick at 224.0438 or steve_crick@ivcc.edu.
