Stoddard honored with award

    Cheryl Stoddard, otherwise known as the “Princess of 
Payroll,” is the recipient of the 2006 support staff distinguished service award 
and received a 500 dollar stipend and the opportunity to attend the 
International Conference on Teaching and Leadership Excellence sponsored by the 
National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development in Austin, Texas on 
May 28-31 all expenses paid.
    Stoddard, payroll and benefits coordinator said “It’s always 
satisfying to know that your coworkers appreciate the job that you do. IVCC 
employees make it easy to work here.”
    Nominations ranged from, “She’s easy to talk to and she knows 
this place better than anyone,” “Cheryl is always able to answer my questions 
regarding everything from paychecks to insurance issues,” and “[she] has a lot 
on her plate but she makes everything she does look effortless.” 
    Other nominees included, Tracy Malcom, educational 
technologist; Sheri Mitchum, help desk manager; Mary Smith, educational 
technologist; Mary Tully, grant assistant; Eileen Twardowski, financial aid 
advisor; and Frances Whaley, librarian.
Stoddard has been employed at IVCC for twenty two years and counting. She was 
employed at LaSalle Peru high school until 1972 when she left to take care of 
her children. A Granville resident, she is the mother of two and proud 
grandmother of four.
