SNA Officers Announced
The Student Nurse Association has chosen it’s officers for 2006-07. They are as follows: President, Jessica Rosa; Vice President, Kelly Huftel; Secretary, Kari Lazzarotto; Treasurer, Grace Thompson; Public Relations, Kim Lamps; SGA Rep, Alyssa Boggio.

Christian Student Group Providing Textbooks
The Christian Student Organization "Transformed" will provide textbooks to students with financial aid during the summer term. As many students do not receive financial aid in the summer term, the group decided the project would be a service to the college and it's students.
The funds were donated to the IVCC Foundation, and students in need will be identified through the financial aid office.

River Clean-Up
Students interested in helping clean up the local environment can join Living Lands and Waters on Saturday, June 24. The group will meet at 9 a.m. at the boat ramp and work on river clean-up until 1 p.m. For more information contact Geoff Mauis at 309-236-5627.


ADV & SAS offer on-campus services
ADV & SAS is a domestic violence and sexual assault service available on campus. Offices are located in the counseling center. Services include free counseling, advocacy, education and safe shelter. ADV & SAS staff is available for services, presentations, information, awareness events and support. Counselors can be reached at the campus office at 224-0484 or in an emergency, call the 24-hour crisis line at 1-800-892-3375.

INTERNATIONAL CLUB gives report
The IVCC International Club had its final meeting of the year at the Thai Cafe in Ottawa. The group, which consists of international and American students, promotes international education through discussion and participation in international cultural events.
On May 3, the club hosted the Celebration of South and Southeast Asia, which offered free food, entertainment and a panel discussion on the region. International Club member Phuong Than Nguyen Huynh, who is from Vietnam, participated in the panel discussion and prepared food from her home country. Creative Writing Pizza Party PLANNED
On Thursday, May 4 in the IVCC Fireplace Lounge in B-building, there will be a pizza party from 11 a.m. to noon for all students interested in creative writing, and for all students who would like to share any of their poetry, short stories or plays that they have written.
Various prizes can be won by students who share their work with the rest of the attending group.
This event is free of charge, and open to any interested IVCC students.

WLO Officers NAMED
At the World Language Organization’s annual meeting three new officers were installed for the 2006 to 2007 school year.
The new officers are Ellen Dugosh for president, Thanh Nguyen for treasurer and Megan Guilfoyle for recording secretary.
This year will conclude the WLO’s first year at IVCC.
Outgoing president Monica Wyatt said, “I think the most gratifying thing we [WLO] did was to help the people of Guatemala after Hurricane Stan.”

clothesline project
The last day that the ADV/SAS will display the “Clothesline Project” will be May 5 in the lobby of Building C.
This project is designed to raise awareness about violence to women by displaying various colored shirts decorated by survivors and representing their individual experiences. Survivors interested in decorating a shirt may contact ADV/SAS to receive a shirt at no cost. For information, contact Dawn Butler at 224-0484.
