Cinco de Mayo celebration planned
IV Leader Staff
The WLO, Diversity Team and Student Activities will be
sponsoring a Cinco de Mayo celebration on Friday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
in the IVCC cafeteria and courtyard (weather permitting).
During the celebration there will be a re-enactment of the
Battle of Puebla in which students can participate or only watch.
Other activities will include a costume contest with prizes
for the most creative French, Spanish or Mexican 19th century costumes, complete
with a hat.
There will also be a “Pin the Hat on Napoleon” game and a
“Cucaracha Derby.”
A fiesta luncheon will also be served for the IVCC community
that attends.
WLO president Ellen Dugosh encourages the IVCC community to
attend because Cinco de Mayo is “a great celebration.” She also said that “it
incorporates world languages, history, costumes, games, food and prizes.”
More information about the Cinco de Mayo celebration and the
activities planned can be found at Anna Pietrolonardo’s Web page at www.ivcc.edu/pietrolonardo.
