The ambassadors serve an important role on campus, according to the group’s advisors.
“Student Ambassadors are key to serving our institution in many ways,” said Sandy Beard, Student Services administrative assistant and one of the advisers for the ambassadors.
“They are visible representatives of the college who assist a variety of departments with events that include tours, welcoming students, welcoming community members and other important tasks that are needed across campus. We are fortunate to have a great variety of ambassadors that represent many areas across the district, a variety of majors and a wide range of involvement in extracurricular activities.”
To be an ambassador, a student must meet grade point average requirements. In addition, students must go through an application and interview process and seek recommendations from IVCC faculty and staff.
The other adviser for Student Ambassadors is Tracy Morris, the director of admission and records.
