Editorial: Guess who’s coming to campus events?
Closer to the beginning of last semester, we published an editorial in this
space encouraging students to get involved campus activities.
We are not taking credit for anything, but it sure seems like student
involvement is on the rise, thanks to an increase in available activities.
When the IV Leader hosted a Halloween costume contest back in October, we were a
little nervous about the turnout, but it turned out to be excellent!
We’ve seen this trend continue, from a crowded cafeteria being entertained a
magician of sorts, to long lines of hungry students waiting to get their fill of
a Black History Month buffet. The organizations and individuals putting time and
money into hosting these events deserve praise for what they bring to our
campus.
It is equally great to see students taking the time to participate and take
advantage of what is offered to them.
Most recently the Edible Car Contest took over the lobby, drawing 132
participants and a big crowd of spectators.
There are plenty more events planned for the remainder of the semester. Just
take a look inside this issue of the IV Leader: there is a Japanese culture
night, an Italian culture night and lots of Women’s History Month events.
An active campus is a happy campus, and it seems this campus is really kicking
into gear. As the semester begins to wrap up, we hope the activities and events
will stay plentiful and the students will stay involved!
