Changes made to registration

Summer and fall semester registration is coming around
again, but this year there is one major change in the process.
The first day of registration will be online only using Web
Advisor. All other types of registration, like in person, phone, mail and fax,
will begin the days after.
The first day of summer semester registration is April 4 and
the first day of fall semester registration is April 17.
Since the first day of both semester registrations is online
only, students need to begin setting up a Web Advisor account now to receive a
password, explained Tracy Morris, director of admissions and records.
To set up a Web Advisor account and get a password, students
can follow the directions at www.ivcc.edu/webadvisor/ or they can get personal
help from the Computer Resource Center in D-201.
The reasons for the big change range from long lines to
safety issues, explained Morris.
"We have had continued problems with students coming to get
in line earlier and earlier," said Morris. "This presents safety and security
issues for students."
Moving first day registration to online only is in an effort
to help students make the process easier, since many students use Web Advisor
already.
"We have seen increasing numbers using the Web and we are
committed to helping students to be able to use the Web," said Morris. "By
moving to all online for the first day, we will be able to pool all of our
resources to help those students who are attempting to register."
For the summer semester registration, in person begins April
5. Phone, fax and mail registration begins on April 6.
The fall semester registration works the same way and in
person begins April 18. Phone, fax and mail registration begins on April 19.
Information sheets can be found in the Counseling Center, the
CRC or in the Records office.
