Christian group meets
The Christian Student Organization will meet from noon to 1 p.m. on Fridays in
C-326.
The faculty advisor for the club is Amanda Bigelow. Questions can be directed to
amanda_bigelow@ivcc.edu.
WLO seeks candidates
World Language Organization will elect officers from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday,
April 18.
Candidate nomination forms are available outside the Language Resource Center
A-301. The offices to be filled include president, vice president for program
development, vice president for membership, treasurer, recording secretary and
corresponding secretary. The president must have prior experience as a board
member of WLO.
Candidate nomination forms will be accepted through Friday, March 31 in advisor
Anna Marie Pietrolonardo’s office, A-316. Candidates may campaign from Monday,
April 3 through Monday, April 17 by creating a poster to be approved by Student
Activities office and displayed outside LRC A-301. Candidates may also submit a
Platform Statement as part of their application. All Platform Statements will be
posted on the WLO web page.
All IVCC Students are eligible to vote for WLO officers in the election on
Tuesday, April 18, in the LRC A-301.
Election results will be posted in the LRC, A-301.
SIFE Team competes
Students in Free Enterprise will compete Monday, March 27 in a regional contest
in Chicago. Seven SIFE students will attend with advisor Susan Koepke.
About 500 teams compete across the nation hoping to advance to nationals in
Kansas City, Mo., in May.
The students have spent hundreds of hours performing educational projects in the
community, Koepke said. In the past, IVCC SIFE teams have won regional
competitions and advanced to national competitions several times.
Career information offered
All district residents are invited to "Spring Forward: Explore New
Opportunities" on Monday, March 27, from 4 to 7 p.m. on the main IVCC Campus.
This informational evening is open to all adults who wish to learn more about
two-year and one-year occupational programs. More than 35 program areas will be
featured.
You will have the opportunity to meet instructors and students in the program
and to hear what a college education means to an adult student. Information will
include "how to" begin your formal college training and education, along with
services that are available to help adult students balance school and their
personal life.

Cinco de Mayo Fiesta
The World Language Organization, Diversity Team and Student Activities are
hosting a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta in the Illinois Valley Community College
cafeteria and courtyard on Friday, May 5 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The fiesta will include a Hispanic luncheon buffet, a re-enactment of the Battle
of Puebla, piñata and “Pin the Hat on Napoleon” games and a “Cucaracha Derby.”
There will also be a costume contest, in which the costume must include a hat.

WLO luncheon
The World Language Organization will be having a celebratory luncheon on Monday,
April 24 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in Room C-316.
The installation of WLO officers and the initiation of Charter Members into Zeta
of the Illinois Chapter, Delta Sigma Mu and the National Spanish Honor Society
will be occurring at the luncheon.
Reservations are required for all who wish to attend. The cost is $20 for DSM
initiates and $5 for guests, which includes the luncheon only.
