Intramural schedule announced

By Jared Bell

The intramural calendar for 2006 is out and students will have a handful of activities to choose from.
A minimum of five events will be offered the rest of the school year that any students, staff or faculty can participate in.
The first of those events scheduled is a dodgeball tournament, which took place last Monday and Tuesday in the IVCC Gymnasium.
In February, a Texas Hold ’Em Poker Tournament will be offered. This no-limit tournament is scheduled for February 8 and will take place in the Upper Gym in the Athletic Building. Players must register by noon on Feb. 8. The tournament will include as many players as the gym can hold. If the tournament is still going at 2 p.m., the top remaining chip stacks of all the remaining players will play at one table for one hour or until a winner is determined. There will also be a volleyball tournament offered at the end of the February that will run into March. The tournament is scheduled to begin on February 28. The tournament will continue on March 1 & 7 before concluding on March 8. The tournament may start with pool play or maybe round robin depending on the number of teams who enter.
Also in March, a basketball league will be offered. The three-week league starts on March 21 with play continuing on March 22, 22, 28, 29 and April 4 before finishing on April 5.
At the end of April a softball tournament is scheduled. The two-day tournament is scheduled for April 25 & 26.
All the IVCC Intramural Programs are free of charge and prizes will be awarded to the first-place teams in the dodgeball tournament, volleyball tournament, basketball tournament and softball tournament, while the winner and the runner-up of the Texas Hold ’Em will also receive prizes. Prizes are either money to be spent in the IVCC bookstore among other items.
Anyone who would like more information or anyone who interested in participating in any of these events, see Sue Harding in the Athletic Building for more information.
