Editorial: Master plan sounds promising
It is encouraging to see that the college is now
following a new master plan.
This means two things: one, that a master plan has been
completed. The results of that master plan proved to be impressive and extremely
beneficial to students, such as the connection of the upper levels. The bonus of
new chairs and tables which are scattered here and there and in the new link are
icing on the cake for students who no longer have to run up and down stairs
repeatedly to find their classroom. No word yet on if the fitness center has
seen an increase in patrons trying to make up for the new lack of cardio.
The new master plan, which has been recently approved by the
board, also seems impressive.
The new master plan will not only fill the campus potholes,
but it seems that the overall interest of the students and the community is at
the forefront of this plan.
The addition of a Technology and Workforce Development Center
and a Community Instruction Center would be outstanding developments for our
campus and the teaching and learning that occurs here.
Here’s hoping state funding comes through and enables IVCC to
reach even further into the community, improve our workforce and give students
an even nicer place to call home.
