Editorial: Register to make your voice heard
Illinois Valley Community College students are
being offered a great opportunity.
If students choose to participate, they can become involved
in matters that affect their towns, their college, their state and their
country. They can have a say in who represents their views in the U.S. Congress,
or decide who will be in charge of IVCC tuition costs.
Once again, voter registration is being offered right here on
campus. This opportunity makes registering to vote a no-brainer and leaves
students with zero excuses for not getting registered.
Once they have a voter registration card in hand, it is time
students started voting. There may not be a presidential election this year, but
the races are no less important.
Exercising the right to vote gives students a say in
everything that takes place in their school, town, state and country and there
is no excuse for not voting!
There are plenty of political opinions swarming about the
campus. Lots of students seem less than pleased about the way the country is
being run. Our only question is, did you vote?
If not, here’s your chance to get started. Get registered and
get voting: it is the only thing that will make a difference and the only thing
that gives you a license to complain about the government.
