Rep. David Wirsing visits campus

On Sept. 4, Representative David Wirsing (R) from Sycamore visited the construction that continues on the third floor in Building B. He also toured classes, labs, and offices.Wirsing was accompanied by Dr. Jean Goodnow, Dr. Harriet Custer, Ron Groleau, Larry Rousey, and Frank Papke.
The Representative was informed about the construction which includes ceilings being lowered to save energy; new rooms being built, and carpet being replaced.Construction in Building B is scheduled to last until Sept. 17 when the third floor will be open again to the public.
The Representative talked with both teachers and students, asking and answering questions about education, one of the main points in his agenda.
You will find that you always will be back to education, Wirsing said. Higher education and agriculture are the two areas I am working toward.
Wirsing also met with members of SGA and other campus groups.
I like to visit with students whenever I am on campus, he said. People should get more involved.
The Representative said that IVCC is one of the best community colleges in the nation.
Representative Wirsing was influential in helping the college to get $6 million to renovate Building C, college officials said.
