A SUNNY VIEW:  Avenging a crying eagle

By Sunny Tunget

I have heard a lot of talk about Osama Bin Laden and what we as Americans should do. I have yet to see any action. I have watched in horror as the scene of the second plane crashed into the World Trade Center’s south tower. I cried as I watched people jumping out of the 92nd story. I held my breath as the towers fell.

I feel we should go over to Afghanistan and bomb him, but we can’t find him. It could also kill thousands of innocent men, women, and children. Yet I still can’t help feeling this hatred toward him and that country. And I still can’t help but feel that bombing Afghanistan may be the only solution.

The U.S. helped Afghanistan get rid of the Russians and the communist party and have given them financial aid over the years. This is how they repay us. They will not turn over a man who has killed thousands of innocent American people. The Afghan government is harboring a man who had ties to 1993 World Trade Center bombing. This man also had a hand in sinking the USS Kohn last October. Now this! Who does he think he is? To top it all off, the Afghan government won’t let us touch him!

The cover of the Globe showed a picture of Osama Bin Laden with a sign in big letters: "Wanted---Dead Or Alive," and the "Or Alive" was crossed out. I got a chuckle out of it. After I left, I started to think that our country is hateful toward this man. I am hateful toward this man. Out of hate comes revenge. To quote House Speaker Dennis Hastert; "He (Osama Bin Laden) better say his prayers."

I really would hate to be the president right now. He has very tough choices ahead of him. If we go over there and just start bombing Afghanistan, we kill many innocent civilians, just like Osama Bin Laden did. If we don’t do anything about Osama Bin Laden or the Afghan government, we let all those innocent people die in vain and we let this mad man go free. Our judicial system may be a little off, but we have never let a person get away with murdering thousands off people.

The problem, as I see it, is that the rest of the world should be mad at this man and the Afghan government for housing him. Not only were there Americans in these buildings, there were many different groups of people. It seems that the U.S. is the only one ticked off enough to do anything about it. All the countries say that they will back us in whatever decision we make, but how much?

The Sept. 11 attack was a hateful and evil act. It was on American soil. It will be avenged! When you (Osama) mess with the best (U.S.), you will die like the rest!
