Ellen Vogelgesang won the position of freshman representative in the Sept. 17 and 18 elections.

As the only candidate on the ballot, she received 110 votes.

Five students tied, as write-in candidates, for the two freshman programming board posts. At press time, SGA advisor Cory Tomasson said they had not been able to contact all of the write-ins to discuss their interest in the position.

“We would rather not release the names,” Tomasson said. “We want them to hear it from us first.”

A total of 131 students voted.

At the most recent SGA meeting Will Cuff was appointed a sophomore programming board member, filling a post that had remained open.

SPIRIT DAY

On Spirit Day, held Sept. 26, the turnout was “tremendous,” according to Tomasson. The SGA served over 1,100 slices of pizza in two hours.

“The responses that we have received have all been positive,” he said.

CONFERENCE

On Oct. 12 and 13, SGA members will attend the Illinois Community College Student Activities Association Conference. Members will learn leadership skills.

MEETING

The next SGA meeting is Oct. 9 at 7:15 a.m. in room C-103.
