We DON'T: Comments from students, staff who don't have tattoos
To first person account of what it's like to get a tattoo | To comments from students, staff who have tattoos | To story about popularity, safety of tattoos |
Out of 64 students and staff surveyed, 25 did not have tattoos. Here's what some of them had to say:
"If someone wants a tattoo, great, but I personally would
never get one. It's too permanent. Who wants a grandma with saggy
tattoos. I could never find a design I wouldn't get sick of."
Kristen Musil, 19
"I m completely indifferent. However, I abhor
ostentatious depictions of ciolence on young ladies' bodies, and I hate tongue
rings!"
Lou Caldwell, instructor
"I think they are a great way to express yourself."
Justin Hardee, 19
"I think tattoos are similar to scars. Some are
badges of honor, while others are deliberate attempts at drawing attention to
ourselves, our views, or our group."
Jim Gibson, 41
"I don't have any, but I have no objection to others having
them. I think it's an excellent form of self expression. Just be
careful what you are expressing because it could embarrass you later in
life."
Doris Bare, 42
"I like them. I think they are neat and an art
form. I plan on getting one soon, but mine will have significance to
it."
Aaron D. Coley, 18
"I like tattoos, as long as they aren't all over the
body. I will probably get one. I am also afraid of the pain."
Aimee Hardee, 18
"I like them. I think that it is a form of
self-expression. I think that it's fine for people not to like them and to
think that they (tattoos) are wrong, too. It's all about how you see
it."
Tina Capponi, 18
