The women's basketball team was 3 - 0 at press time.
The women won two games at Midstate Tech in Wisconsin. They defeated Midstate Tech 72-39 Nov. 9 before winning 78-40 the following day against Wisconsin Fond Du Lac.
The IVCC women won their season opening game against Danville on Nov. 3 by one point, 89 - 88, in a double overtime.
Assistant coach Laura Bricker said, "Danville's girls outsized us by a long shot under the basket; Camia Brown guarded a girl that was 6'2"."
The team also played in a jamboree Oct. 27, winning one and losing two games. The IVCC women won over Mount Mercy and lost to Mount St. Claire and Loras.
Reviewing the team's performance at the jamboree, Karissa Dinges said: "We had a lot of potential and energy in our first game (against Mount Mercy.) We got tired and lost our energy in the last two games. It's hard to play three games in the same day."
The other colleges had the advantage of a larger bench and could rotate their players.
Bricker said she is excited about her team this year.
"We have a definite advantage in being fast," she said. "Karissa (Dinges) is like lightning."
Bricker continued: "Katie Kohr, the only returning sophomore, can lead the team with her knowledge of playing basketball at the college level.
"Jennifer Stokes is rock solid," Bricker said. "Nobody will move her and she can also jump."
Head coach of the team is Steve Crick.
At press time, the women were playing Parkland.
Upcoming games include Oakton Nov. 17, south Suburban at home Nov. 20, Joliet at home Nov. 27, and the Danville Classic Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.
