Six members of People of the World End Racism participated in a Make a Difference Day project helping local children in need.
Angie Stamberger, Nicole Avenarius, Tanner Freeman, Tony Phelps, Mike Hnytka, and Ryan Bunt were each paired with a child for a pizza lunch and a shopping trip on Oct. 28.
The IVCC students helped the children to pick out a winter coat, boots or shoes. Target Department store awarded POWER $300 towards the purchase of the children's clothes.
The IVCC students said they volunteered for the project because they really like kids and wanted to be part of a good cause.
"It was a blast," Stamberger said. "The kids really had fun."
POWER advisor Kim Abel expressed appreciation for the students who volunteered.
"I am always impressed with young adults who show the kind of commitment and concern for others that I saw demonstrated today," Abel said.
