The women’s basketball team saw their season record jump to 7-2 on the young season as they split a pair of games this past weekend at the Danville Classic. The Lady Eagles dropped a 66-59 decision to host Danville on Friday, but quickly rebounded from just their second loss of the year with an impressive 80-63 victory over Millikin on Saturday.

On Friday, IVCC placed three players in double figures, led by Jennifer Stokes’ team-high 18 points and 12 rebounds. Karisa Dinges and Katie Kohr added 14 and 10 points respectively in the loss for the Lady Eagles.

During their victory on the following day, it was the same trio leading the IVCC women to their seventh triumph of the season, as Kohr netted 21 points, followed by Stokes (15) and Dinges (14).

With the team going 1-1 over the weekend, La Salle-Peru graduate and current IVCC guard Leah Gapinski said: "We didn’t play very well against Danville. We didn’t play our tempo and that caused them to basically control the game. They made seven of their first eight shots and we couldn’t catch any breaks during the game."

Gapinski was however pleased with the way her team bounced back and defeated Millikin on Saturday.

"We pulled everything together on Saturday," remarked the 5’8" guard. "We were tied at the half and just came out in the third quarter and picked up the tempo, allowing us to score a lot of fast break points. We are playing well as a team and that is due to our unselfishness. Everyone plays well with one another and no one on the team is in it for themselves and the glory that goes along with it."

IVCC will be in action Dec. 8 at home against Oakton and again on Dec. 11 against McHenry before playing in the IVCC Classic Dec. 14 and 15.
