Contacting First Responders isn't difficult

Faced with a medical emergency on campus? Call the college’s First Responder Team, staff members trained to assist and stabilize the person until emergency medical technician help arrives from the Oglesby Ambulance Service.

The Team can be activated to respond by doing any of the following:

· Dial 600, the college emergency phone number, from any campus phone.

· Go to the switchboard operator.

· Use the emergency phones in any elevator on campus.

· Use the Area of Rescue Assistance call boxes located on the third floor of buildings A, B, C, D, and E.

· Use the emergency call boxes located in parking lots 1, 2, and 5 and the turnaround in front of the main entrance to the college, or the call boxes located on the walkway to the east campus and by the edge of the driveway to the agriculture building on the east campus.

When placing the call, give your location and the nature of the medical emergency.

"It is important to remember that First Responders should be called in the event of medical emergencies only," said coordinator Ron Groleau.

Further information is available from Groleau at extension 482 or e-mail groleau@ivcc.edu.
