Student body president Angela Brown was appointed to the position of vice-chairperson of the external affairs subcommittee of the Student Advisory Committee at the June 6 SAC meeting.

The external affairs subcommittee is responsible for public relations and press releases of the SAC. SAC is a committee of the Illinois Board of Higher Education, which is composed of college students who make recommendations to the IBHE.

These students come from 12 public universities and 22 community colleges throughout the state.

A mission of SAC is to provide the IBHE with a student perspective on student issues. The organization can also provide students with a voice through the bureaucracy of the educational institution. Current Issues for the group include the rising costs of student fees and the low minority enrollments.

Attending the latest SAC meeting from IVCC were Brown, freshman Lisa Twardowski of Peru, and Dave Msseemmaa of La Salle.
