Five members of the adult education staff have received the credential Learning Resource Specialist for Special Learning Needs.

With the certification, Cindy Lock, Margaret Allen, Deborah Crask, Joyce Loebach and Jan Broadway are authorized to administer the Payne Learning Needs Inventory to adult education / literacy students.

Mary Gross and Lynn Reha, who earned the specialist designation in June 1999, received certificates as trainers for the program.

Certificates were presented on Aug. 15 at IVCC by Jennifer Foster, the associate director for adult education from the Illinois Community College Board, who recognized IVCC's leadership in training its staff members.

Overall, 102 individuals have been received credentials statewide, and IVCC has the most individuals trained of any community college in the state. IVCC also has two of the seven trainers certified in the state of Illinois.

Dr. Harriet Custer, vice president for academic affairs, said "this project has greatly increased the expertise of our staff to meet student learning needs."
