COLLEGE PLAY: 'Harvey' cast, crew prepare for production

Cast and crew members for the IVCC Theatre Department’s fall production of “Harvey” are continuing to work on the production which will be performed in the Cultural Center Oct. 26 – 29.
The classic comedy by Mary Chase focuses on Elwood P. Dowd, played by Michael Hylin, and Dowd’s imaginary friend Harvey, a six and a half foot rabbit.
Problems begin when Dowd’s sister Veta, played by Eddie Bauman, decides to have Elwood committed to a sanitarium to spare her daughter, played by Erin Peters, and the rest of their family embarrassment.
“Each of us carries with us a set of perceptions of what we consider to be normal,” said director Dr. David Kuester.
“’Harvey’ helps to point out just how crazy we can get trying to make others conform to our perceptions of normality.”
The play will be presented at noon Oct. 26, 8 p.m. on Oct. 27 and 28, and at 2 p.m. Oct. 29. Tickets will be free to IVCC students, faculty and staff. General admission is $5.
“Please enjoy this show,” Kuester said. “It is often through laughter we learn about ourselves.”
