President of Strategic Marketing and Public Relations in Ottawa and Chair of the Ottawa Visitors Center Board of Directors, Robin Malpass, will be presenting “Canal Town: A Not-for-Profit Success Story”.

It will discuss the Center’s recent success with their first major publication, “Canal Town,” and overview how not-for-profit organizations can create and market profitable products.

The free presentation will discuss how to choose the right project for maximum profitability, creating community interest, securing financial assistance and marketing on a budget. Also, she will explain the importance of selecting versus accepting volunteers, setting goals, delegating responsibilities and the role of leadership.

In the past, Malpass’ company has prepared IVCC’s marketing plan. She is also a former student of IVCC and was active in theater. She appeared as Lotus Blossom in the 1978 production of “Teahouse of the August Moon” directed by Giacomo Leone.

The presentation will be held at 2 p.m. Nov. 1 in F-113 and is open to the public.
