POINT OF VIEW COLUMN:  Tomatoes rate movies

By Reagan Gearhart

When deciding which movies to see in the theater or which ones to rent, there’s one very important online tool that can help: http://rottentomatoes.com

This website includes reviews of new movies from the top 65 or so critics in the country.

Each review is either given a rotten tomato, if the reviewer didn’t like the movie, or a fresh tomato if the reviewer did. All the reviews on the site are combined for a "Fresh Reading" on a movie. For example, the movie U-571 received a reading of 66% which means 2/3 of the critics liked it.

Another good reason to look at this website is the interesting movie news on the home page. The news on it, at press time, was that Jada Pinkett Smith is in negotiations to star in "The Matrix" parts 2 and 3 and that a "Terminator 3" is being contemplated.

This site also has links to other sites where you buy movies or even the poster from your favorite film. Check out rottentomatoes.com before you go to the theaters!
