Francis (Frank) Zeller, IVCC’s Chief Financial Officer, is planning a retirement for February 2000.

Zeller, 56, has been Vice President of Business Services and Finance since 1973, marking almost 27 years with the college.

He received his B.A. from Lewis University in 1967, his M.A. in 1970 from Northern Illinois University where he also received his Ed.D. in 1983.

Zeller, originally from Chicago, moved to Arlington Heights with his parents when he was 13. He and his wife, Frances Joan McGrath Zeller married in 1968, and moved to the Illinois Valley in 1973.

Before coming to IVCC, Zeller, among other work experience was Chairman of the English Department at Robert Frost Junior High School in Shaumburg, Illinois. He also was Assistant Business Manager at Park Ridge Elementary School in Park Ridge, Illinois and Business Manager for Barrington High School in Barrington, Illinois.

Zeller has in the past been in a number of civic and political activities and is still currently active in many of them. He also holds a number of professional memberships to local and campus organizations.

Zeller has also received many prestigious professional awards for excelling in finance, business, and in education.

When asked what makes retirement look attractive Zeller responded, "It’s something that I’ve never done before."

He also said that no major plans are in the works after he leaves.

"I already have a ticket to take off to Florida," said Zeller. "I just want to unwind a little bit."

He continued, "Part of retirement is that you don’t have to plan that far ahead."

Zeller said he still plans to stay very involved in the community.

Zeller and his wife have two sons Patrick, the Assistant Attorney General for Jim Ryan in Chicago, and Brian a firefighter in LaSalle. Brian and his wife, Christy, have a son, Ethan, 2 ½.

"I’m going to miss the people at IVCC so much because of how the people care so much for one another," Zeller said. "The Illinois Valley is a great place."
