wpe2.gif (3593 bytes) IVCC’s upper gym will be transformed into The Great Halle for the 75th Anniversary Celebration performances of Ye Olde Madrigal Dinner Dec. 9 – 12.

Under the direction of Kathy Sarver, a group of about 50 performers will treat audiences to Renaissance entertainment and music and a 16th century holiday feast.

Members of the Collegiate Chorale, Chamber Singers, Brass Ensemble and Recorder Ensemble, all dressed in 16th century costumes, will entertain and serve the meal.

"They are a great group of people to work with," the director said. "There’s a nice variety between newcomers and experienced performers."

Acrobats from the Dance Center and led by Vicki Benak will also perform. The gym will be decorated like a 16th century castle, complete with shields, banners and candelabra.

The menu for the dinner, one typical of old English banquets, will feature Rock Cornish Game Hen over rice, almond green beans, figgy pudding, pate and crackers and wassail toast. At press time, catering arrangements were being finalized.

Sarver is directing her second Madrigal Dinner, which is a 26-year tradition at IVCC. A part-time instructor, she has directed music groups and assisted with play production at the college for many years.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Dec. 9, 10, and 11 and at 2 p.m. on Dec. 12. Tickets, which are $22.50, are available in the Bookstore and must be purchased in advance. The Great Halle will seat approximately 100 people for each performance.
