The college has entered into an agreement with Word of Mouse to receive free mouse pads for every computer on campus.

Under the terms of the three-year pact, the Boulder, Colo. company will provide 336 mouse pads in the fall of 2000. The mouse pads will carry advertisements, but the college must approve them.

Michelle Story, computer lab assistant to instruction, said "The company will send a sample with the advertisements before they are shipped, and the school may accept them or reject them."

Word of Mouse representatives said the mouse pads are designed to be appropriate and in accordance with school policies. The company does not permit ads of alcohol, tobacco, gambling, or of political, religious or sexually-explicit materials.

Story said about 2,300 schools and libraries already have agreements with Word of Mouse.
