Ag students compete

Agriculture students have an opportunity to participate in state and national agriculture conferences and contests through the IV Ag Club.

Advisor Doug Stockley said, "The purpose behind most of the local and state activities that this club is involved with centers around utilizing the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom for problem solving in a contest environment."

Last year, in addition to competing in state and national contests, members hosted F.F.A. soils, crops and ag mechanics contests on campus. They also sampled the soil on the college farmland and cleaned up the grounds around the Agriculture Building, on the East Campus, for Earth Week.

Members of the IV Ag Club belong to the Illinois Postsecondary Students in Agriculture and the National Postsecondary Students in Agriculture. One of the goals of the campus organization is to strengthen contacts between and among agriculture students on various campuses.
