SIFE members attend conference

Nine members of IVCCs new Students in Free Enterprise team attended a Leadership Conference in Chicago Oct. 9 and 10.

Lori Napier, Connie Uzella, Fran Mathew, Amber VanWaes, Tera Auckland, Tara Brickert, Brenda Vissering, David Burton and Amy Robinson were accompanied by SIFE advisor Bob Reese.

Speakers at the conference included Teresa Beck, CEO of American Stores, Joe Gaffney, SIFE alumna and Vice President of Manufacturing Development of American Can Co., Bobbie Riley, Director of Recruiting and College Relations for American Stores, Laura Loew, Recruitment and Selection Leader of Manco, Inc., and Bob Wieland, known as "Mr. Inspiration."

Participants completed exercises in "What is Free Enterprise," "The Traits of a Leader," and "Planning a Project." At a career fair, the students had an opportunity to talk with some of the nation’s top business executives about internships and job opportunities.
