The search process has ended to fill four IVCC staff positions, but a number of positions remain open.
At recent meetings of the College Board, Larry Rousey was hired as Director of Facilities, Paul Crawford was re-hired as Financial Aid Director, Jennifer Scheri was appointed Coordinator of Business and Industrial Services, and Sarah Woodyear was appointed Utility Clerk.
Rousey, originally hired as Maintenance Supervisor, has been the interim Director of Facilities for nine months, since Ralph Niemeyer resigned.
Crawford is returning to IVCC from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn. where he served as Director of Student Financial Planning for the last two months.
Jerry Corcoran, director of human resources, explained Crawfords return after such a short time: "IVCC was the best fit for Paul Crawford."
Scheri, who has been a career counselor for the colleges Dislocated Workers Center for five years, will be working for the Director of Business and Industrial Services, Jamie Gahm, in her new post. Scheri received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Marquette University and is currently working on a Masters at Benedictine College.
Woodyear, who is taking classes at IVCC, will be working 32 hours in Admissions and Records and eight hours in the Accounting Office.
The search continues for an instructor of computer networking, an instructor of therapeutic massage, a Supervisor of Facilities, a DWC counselor, a secretary for the Director of Development and a secretary to the Special Populations Coordinator.
Search has just begun to replace Laura Nelson, assistant to instruction in the computer lab. Nelson, who started at IVCC in August, has accepted a job with John Deere in East Moline as Corporate Trainer for Software Applications. She will be leaving at the end of the semester.
"I really enjoyed the people I worked with in the labs," Nelson said. "It (IVCC) is a beautiful school and even when I was new, I was treated with respect."
The position of Assistant to Instruction requires a mimimum of an Associate Degree in a computer-related area and two years supervisory and teaching or training experience with PC systems. A Bachelors Degree is preferred.
Corcoran said that the computer networking job, which has been advertised since the beginning of the semester, has been difficult to fill and that few people have applied. The position requires a minimum of an Associate Degree in a computer related area with Novell and or Microsoft NT Network Certification and experience as a network administrator. A Bachelors Degree and teaching experience is preferred.
The therapeutic massage instructor position, also advertised since the beginning of the semester, is for a new program scheduled to be underway in the spring semester. The position requires a B.S. in nursing or a related health field, National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work Certification, and two years experiences as a massage therapist. A Masters Degree is preferred.
Corcoran said a candidate for this position would be recommended to the Board at its Dec. 16 meeting.
The post of Supervisor of Facilities, formerly Maintenance Supervisor, became open when Rousey was named Director of Facilities at the Nov. 18 Board meeting. The position requires a combination of education and physical plant experience totaling eight years, of which at least three are in a supervisory capacity. An Associate Degree is preferred.
The counseling position in the Dislocated Workers Center requires a B.S. in counseling and JTPA experience.
Corcoran said all job openings are posted online as well as being advertised in many local newspapers.
