Back to Apache home page

By the time the spring semester begins, four classrooms on campus will have become SMART.

Dr. Harriet Custer, Vice President of Academic Affairs, announced on Dec. 4 that SMART technology will be installed in A213, B213, D229 and E326. Two other rooms, A321 and A331, may be ready by Jan. 5, Custer said, "but will definitely be ready early in the semester."

A SMART classroom, in the words of Computer Services Director Harold Barnes, "contains the proper equipment that allows instructors to use all types of electronic media to supplement their instruction."

The equipment that will be installed to make those rooms SMART includes an LCD ceiling-mounted projector and a console with:

a networked computer,

a VCR

a DVD player

a document camera.

Custer announced that an additional six SMART classrooms would be equipped during the spring semester. Those rooms will be F113, A208, A209, A211, A210 and on the East Campus a portable unit will be set up.

She also said that a phone and window blinds will be installed in each SMART room. New lighting will be installed later.
