IVCC will be receiving approximately $90,000 more next year as a result of the approval of their agreement with Seneca High School, Seneca Grade School, and Commonwealth Edison on property tax related disputes.

There had been an agreement between ComEd and seven of the taxing districts, but it did not include the three schools. Now the schools have the chance to predict future tax assessments.

IVCC will be getting approximately $1,159,200 in total tax revenue in 1999, which also includes the higher tax rate.

LaSalle Nuclear Station had been assessed at $300,000,000 in April of 1997. The new agreement allows it to be assessed at $324,200,000 for 1999 through 2004.

"We are gratified to have reached an agreement that is fair and equitable to taxing bodies and taxpayers alike," said Dr. Jean Goodnow, College President. "This allows us to move forward with our planning because we can gauge what the Equal Assessed Valuation will be through the Year 2004."

Dr. Goodnow had assistance from Senica High School Superintendent Butch Cotter and Senica Grade School Superintendent Larry Walker.

"I am really appreciative for Butch Cotter and Larry Walker for their persistent dedication and energy in reaching a resolution of this matter," said Dr. Goodnow.

This settlement agreement still has to be approved by the Senica High School and Grade School Boards. It also has to be approved by ComEd and the LaSalle County Circuit Court where a lawsuit is still pending.
